Each boy at the Choir School receives a half-hour piano lesson each week. The boys study the piano since it helps improve sight-reading and the ability to hear in more than one ‘part.’
While some boys go on to be professional pianists and organists, most do not. However the experience of learning the piano influences so many other musical pursuits that we strongly believe it is in everyone’s best interest.
Each year, each boy takes an ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) exam. Bi-annual adjudications help prepare the boys to perform for the exams in front of a friendly panel of adjudicators.
